Restore, Refresh, Renew!
March Construction Status:
State and Local building permits are now officially approved! All construction details are complete and materials are on order. Firm plans are in place to begin the demolition phase immediately after Easter weekend (April 9th).
Monday April 10th daytime is set aside to box up all kitchen items and small appliances, while Monday evening is set aside to remove all kitchen contents, tables/chairs, large appliances, restroom fixtures and remaining furniture from the basement.
Tuesday April 11th is the date for demolition to begin. Five teams of volunteers from the parish have been assigned to specific areas of demolition to optimize the process. If you would like to join one of these teams for 2-3 days of demo fun, give us a call at 567-644-1739. Since this will be an active construction site, we respectfully request that only the people assigned to these work teams enter this area in order to avoid potential injury and/or slowing down the process. During off hours of demolition/construction, this area will be strictly off-limits to the public. Photos and status updates will be provided on this website during the project to keep parishioners informed of our progress.
Saturday April 15th is the date set for a “One Day … Take Away” sale that will allow Holy Trinity parishioners the opportunity to purchase salvaged items from the existing basement for $1 each. These may include kitchen large and small appliances, kitchen carts, 8’ tables and metal folding chairs, entertainment center, wood doors and trim, bathroom fixtures, etc. Prior to this date however, we will provide first access to internal Holy Trinity Church needs, followed by our Holy Cross Family of Parishes. All items from this one-day sale will need to be hauled away by end of day. Any items not taken by parishioners will be donated to local charitable organizations as appropriate, or finally sent to the dumpster. For your own safety, we request that no one engage in “dumpster diving”!
Starting the week of April 17th, carpet removal, floor repairs and excavation of restroom septic lines will begin. Our goal is to have all demolition complete in order to start new construction around May 1st.
Gift Registry Status:
We are pleased to continue sharing wonderful news on this aspect of the project. To-date, over $65,000 in monetary donations have been received to help finance this project and nearly 80% of all furnishings from the Gift Registry have already been donated. Special thanks go out to our Knights Of Columbus Council who are providing the donation toward the new Banquet Room Doors. We feel this will be a very special addition to the project! We also have several families and groups of friends who have joined together as well as individuals in making special purchases and donations. If you haven’t already done so, we prayerfully ask that you consider selecting one or more of the important remaining items to help complete our project.
Timeline and Use of Alternate Facilities:
If all construction materials arrive according to plan, we hope this project can be completed in the August/September timeframe. In the meantime, funeral luncheons and other rental events will be scheduled using alternate off-site venues. Continue to contact the parish office at 419-678-4802 for assistance in coordinating these arrangements.
This year’s KofC picnic will not have access to Church basement facilities for bingo or restrooms.
