Construction:

July / August 2023

Restore, Refresh, Renew!

Construction continues to move forward, but unfortunately, we’ve lost a couple of weeks from the pace over the past month and a half. The original plan was to complete the project within 5-6 months and at one point we were running about two weeks ahead. It now looks like it will take the full 6 months through September until the project is complete. That said, we are confident our Parish community will be very pleased with the results and anxiously await the opportunity for an Open House event that is currently in the planning phase. More details to follow soon.

As mentioned in the previous May/June 2023 construction update, the project’s primary focus was on the “restore” of structural issues including the faulty septic and plumbing, floor buckling, foundation leaks, electrical and structural support issues. These have now all been completed to our satisfaction and are pleased to report that we've received in-wall plumbing and electrical inspection approvals from local and state authorities.

Efforts are now focused on the project’s second priority of “refresh and renew.” As shown in the updated photo library, all walls are now in place, wallboard is installed and spackling is complete in preparation for painting. Work over this final month includes installation of remaining ceiling grid/tile in the restrooms, kitchen and serving areas followed by painting, installation of trim & doors, installation of flooring in the remaining areas followed by installation of bathroom fixtures, vanities, kitchen cabinets and appliances. A busy next month indeed!

We certainly appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding over these past few months. For the families and kitchen staff dealing with the inconvenience of using alternate venues for funeral luncheons, the need for folks to trek over to the Fr Yauss Center for restroom needs and the office/maintenance staff dealing with the chaos of storing materials & furnishings … we understand how disruptive this project has been to all of you. We are confident our parish community will find the results of this much-overdue renovation project well worth the wait and look forward to the opening of this fully restored venue this October.
